    Essex Regional Health Commission is seeking a full-time Environmental Specialist with a New Jersey Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) license to conduct inspections and investigations in the areas of air pollution control, noise pollution control, water pollution, and pesticide enforcement, as well as prepare reports or other documentation which may be used as evidence in legal actions. The position may also assist the member health departments with REHS work. Candidate must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license and will be subject to light off-hours on-call duty.

     

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the chemical, biological, physical, or environmental sciences or a closely allied discipline. Candidate MUST have a valid Registered Environmental Health Specialist license issued by the NJ Department of Health.

     

    EXPERIENCE: Professional experience in air pollution control, noise pollution control, and/or other related environmental regulatory work preferred. Upon hire, the candidate will be required to successfully complete courses or training in environmental programs required by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection under the County Environmental Health Act (CEHA).

     

    SALARY: $59,774, commensurate with experience. The Commission also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
